Demystifying the Academic Job Application Process
PRI Associate Director Dr. David Lowry is leading a five-week virtual workshop series on demystifying the academic job application process. Dr. Lowry has hosted these workshops annually since 2020 with the goal of helping trainees gain a better understanding of how to approach writing each component of an academic job package. Participants will read through successful applications, then break down what works well and does not work well piece by piece.
All five workshops will take place via Zoom on Wednesdays from 12:00–1:00 p.m. ET and are open to anyone at MSU. The dates and topics are as follows:
- July 9: Welcome and introductions
- July 16: Cover letters
- July 23: Research statements
- July 30: Teaching statements
- August 6: CVs and other statements
PRI Networking Hour

These hybrid workshops are open to all at MSU and focus on fostering engaging discussions on essential topics, such as responsible conduct of research, career development, writing skills, and more.
PRI Networking Hour will return in the 2025 Fall Semester. Please stay tuned for more details.
