Ian Willick works in David Lowry's Lab.
Area of Expertise: Environmental Stress Physiology
Ian came to Michigan State from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, where he studied tissue-specific mechanisms of freezing tolerance and avoidance in winter cereals. His current research aims to understand the physiological and molecular differences in how switchgrass genotypes respond to low-temperature cues signaling seasonal changes. Second, he aims to characterize how this acclimation response mitigates overwintering injury. When not freezing things, Ian enjoys gardening, reading and a good cup of coffee.
