Blake works in Addie Thompson's lab.
Blake came to Michigan State to pursue a Master’s degree in Maize Genetics. Blake studies the genetics of resistance in maize to tar spot, a fungal disease caused by Phyllachora maydis. In addition to assessing and mapping resistance, he is interested in how growth of the maize plant, its genetics, and the pest interact with each other. Blake completed his undergraduate work at Iowa State University where he majored in Agronomy with an emphasis in plant breeding and crop management. He plans to continue his career in crop research in either industry or academia after his program is complete. In his free time, Blake likes to be active outside and be with his friends and family.
