Gregg Howe received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1993. From 1994-1997 he was a National Research Service Award (National Institutes of Health) Postdoctoral Fellow in the Institute of Biological Chemistry at Washington State University, before joining the faculty of the Plant Research Laboratory at MSU in 1997. His research uses both model (Arabidopsis) and crop (tomato) plants to investigate plant immunity to insect herbivores, with a primary focus on understanding the molecular mechanism of action of the defense hormone jasmonate. Howe is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement for Science and the American Society of Plant Biologists, and is a Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher.
